Mama

This is a series of events of my personal experience, observation, and reflection on life with the most interesting character who ever lived this side of New Orleans, my mother, MizRobbie, aka Nanny to her grandchildren. Come with me on a journey into her world with its complex Southern culture hidden and protected from outsiders.

Looking back I see MizRobbie’s sass is the most enjoyable adventure in autobiographical humor I have ever known. An outrageous commentator on husbands, politics and unwed mothers she frequently tore Southern sham in shreds while clinging to her own contradictions of Southern traditions. With a PhD in the high art of eyelash batting she knew exactly what made Southern women irresistible.
And she taught me everything she knew.
