I Don't Need Anything At All
People think of lonely things
When leaves begin to fall
Steeped in proper social standing
Now I don't need anything at all.
Looking at dreams I'm mastering
What you did wrong I don't recall
My heart stops when the phone rings
But I don't need anything at all.
My favorite things are magnolia trees
And distant winds remembering
A haze of humidity shimmering free
No, I don't need anything at all.
We gave it time our eyes on the clock
Trembling bodies stole precious Falls
Out on a short limb while we watched
I said I don't need anything at all.
At last I know why a caged bird sings
Old memories heed their lonely call
Embracing yesterdays with loving wings
And I don't need anything at all.
Do you remember those days as I do
Sometime at midnight against the wall
Until I get over getting over you
I just don't need anything at all.
